Luminesce Provides Courtesy Insurance Billing

Let’s face it, Health Insurance is a headache! It would be great if we could just pick a therapist that we have a great rapport with, and have one simple, consistent, easy process for using our insurance to cover those costs. Unfortunately, the reality is not simple. Now Luminesce Counseling simplifies the insurance equation by providing a service called Courtesy billing.

Courtesy billing makes dealing with insurance easier because Luminesce Counseling files the insurance claims for you, and then you receive any benefits covered by your insurance policy directly from the insurance company. With courtesy billing, you do no have to file any paperwork with the insurance company yourself. That's different from a lot of other out of network providers where you have to submit the insurance company on your own. Here’s how courtesy billing works.

First, when you’re filling out intake paperwork with Luminesce Counseling, you include your insurance plan information along with a photo of the front and back of your insurance card. Once that is completed, the Luminesce Counseling team works behind the scenes to establish a relationship with the insurance company, if we don’t have one already, so that we can submit claims to them electronically.

Meanwhile, as you have appointments with your therapist, you are required to pay out of pocket for each session. At the end of each month, Luminesce Counseling bundles all your sessions into a single claim that is submitted to your insurance company. Because you have already paid the fees, the claim form we build identifies you as the recipient of any payments for service provided. That claim is submitted electronically.

The insurance company will process this electronic claim, and then based on the terms and conditions of your insurance policy, it will identify the services covered, and level of benefit for each eligible service. Once the insurance company is finished processing the claim, any benefits owed are then paid directly to the insured party.

Your eligibility for coverage and level of benefits is subject to the terms and conditions of your insurance policy and is something that you should discuss with the Member Services department of your insurance plan. You should have a phone number on your insurance card with relevant contact information. Courtesy billing does not guarantee that you will receive an insurance benefit, but it helps that we are filling out and processing the paperwork for you, so you don’t have to stress about the details.

Currently Luminesce Counseling is able to submit courtesy claims for the following insurance companies:

· Blue Cross Blue Shield Affiliates

· Kaiser Permanente

If your insurer is not on this list, then please let us know and we’ll be happy to work on getting setup to perform courtesy claims on your behalf. Thanks!
