for Solopreneurs and Business Partners

Whether you currently own a business or are considering starting a business, Luminesce offers business coaching for individuals and two- to three-person business partnerships. For individuals and partners who are starting businesses or existing entrepreneurs feeling stuck in burnout or overwhelm or ready to scale up their business to the next level, Luminesce can illuminate the way.

As a solo business owner, you are your own boss, setting goals and meeting objectives is your responsibility. Business coaching offers the accountability to keep you motivated on track as you build your business and deftly navigate the rewarding yet constantly demanding realm of entrepreneurship.

Like a sports coach, a business coach can offer intensive training, focused instruction, demonstration and practice as well as empathetic guidance. Unlike the athletic coaches in movies who yell and fume while gripping a stopwatch, we will listen attentively (and never raise our voices). The goal, however, is similar: to promote the best performance from the player, but we thinks it's important to first tune into the invisible barriers to success. (Think Talia Shire's pep talk to Rocky on the beach in Rocky III.) The roadblocks are often what we're afraid to say out loud but once we do, they become suddenly manageable.

We then try to help you define measurable, clear steps to reach your short-, mid-, and long-term goals. When you complete a small step, we cheer exuberantly. But we don’t fret (or throw in the towel) when you make a misstep.

Grounded in a strengths-based approach, we offer a wide array of resources to overcome resistance. Internal resources might include activating mindfulness and deactivating denigrating self-talk. External resources might include motivational TED talks or time-management tools. Appreciating the challenges of procrastination and overwhelm, we'll strategize with you to help you stay focused and on track, delegate effectively, and improve work habits.

Kristin Schuchman, MSW received her Master's in Social Work at Portland State University and trained as a counselor at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM).

Believing you need to keep the spark alive in both family and work life, she challenges clients to create careers and grow businesses that provide meaning while maintaining balance.

She helps career changers lift the fog and determine their next steps to find careers that fulfill their personal and financial needs yet work for their lives. She is not a recruiter and not interested in just "getting you a job." She is more interested in helping you build a career to keep you happy in the long term.

As a career and business coach, Kristin offers a mix of personal branding expertise, counseling skills, and clear-headed insight, helping creatives, solopreneurs, and changemakers navigate less linear career paths. Her experiences running a branding business and a women's magazine trained her to sharpen clients' financial savvy and basic messaging, while her MSW gave her tools to help clients overcome self-limiting beliefs.

When you start a business with other people, everything is so optimistic and fun in the beginning. As time goes on, your responsibilities increase and the pressure mounts, especially if your business grows quickly.

Business partnership coaching gives you the chance to share your challenges and frustrations in a safe space where you potentially mediate recurring conflicts, negotiate responsibilities and discuss solutions all with the end goals of helping you plot a course towards success while respecting one another's autonomy and boundaries.

There are even assessments that can help you determine better strategies for long-term compatibility. One example is a variation of Clifton Strengthsfinders called the BP10, which identifies the entrepreneurial strengths in each of you to help you decide who is best suited for certain roles and tasks (and who might you need to hire in the future to fill gaps in both strengths and knowledge).

If you are still in the startup phase, business partnership coaching can lay a strong foundation for success by helping you avoid pitfalls later. As you build your business it helps to understand who will respond to what challenges and how you will address problems and decide on effective solutions. If you are seasoned business partners, it can be helpful to smooth out potential areas of conflict and tension and strategize ways to collectively decide on your organization's long-term goals, objectives, mission and vision.

We offer a brief intake process to ensure that we can offer a business coaching experience that is a good fit. We welcome clients of all backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender expression, races, ages, and abilities and strive to ensure that you feel safe, respected and heard. Contact us to get started.
